Boracay Island is located south of Manila and is a small and narrow island off the north western corner of Aklan. It is only 7 kilometres long and has more than 300 resorts of all sizes and standards from 2 star to 5 star. The main "White Beach" faces the Sulu Sea and is about 3 kilometres long and is made of very fine white sand with perfect swimming conditions. As a safe tourist island, it is ideal for families, couples and singles. Weather is best between November and May when the prevailing winds blow onto the back of the island and the rainfall is much less. During that period Bulabog Beach is one of the best windsurfing and kite boarding destinations in South East Asia. The large outrigger sailing "paraws" are unique to Boracay and a sail around the island or a sunset sail is a must. At night time the beach comes alive with bars, excellent singers, live bands and quaint music lounges. The Filipinos are really into music , if you weren't aware. Restaurants set up tables right on the beach and seafood is the main order. Prices are more than reasonable and because most the tourists there are Filipino, they must be affordable. On White Beach every night is party night and culminates in the biggest on New Years Eve where it is the only place to be in the Philippines.
