About the Philippines
Located in South East Asia it consists of 7107 (named) islands so it obviously has a lot of beaches. Many of the islands have different foods, customs and languages making the country very diverse and therefore interesting to the traveller. The people are very friendly and most welcoming. English is spoken as a second language to the majority which makes it easy to get around. It was a Spanish Colony for almost 400 years and then the only United States of America colony for almost 50 years making the Philippines more westernised than other countries in the Asian region.
